Hi, would someone send me a diagram and the parts needed to change my 706 to a 12 volt system? The most reasonable price parts and numbers for the alt. ect. ect. Someone told me their is a alt. one wire for around $30.-40 and is simple to hook-up. True or not. Would someone send me info. on good salvage yards for Int. parts? Any help would be greatly appreciated, new at this! Thanks GMB

If it has 3 filler caps on battery it is a 6 volt if it has 6 filer caps it's a 12 I have driven several 706's and never saw any 6 volts .

All 706's are 12 volt neg. ground diesels have two 6 volts that are hooked together for 12 . And if the genarator is in good working order and the regulator is doing it's job then it will handel the 4 lites in a flat top fender and tow lites on the back but the lite switch won't it will only take five lites . Now on the later model 706's they came from the factory with a alt. I have had both and the gen. will do the job and i use to do a lot of nite work.

Hi, thanks for the help. The wiring is not the best on it. I"m going to rewire it, and at the same time change (with your help, I now know that it must have a generator) I"ll change it to an altenator. What"t the easiest and cheapest for parts that I would need? Have any ideas!!!! It"t a 706 gas. Thank for your time and help. GMB

Greg, I would suggest staying with the generator, it will be cheaper and easier. Unless you plan on running a huge set of lights the generator will keep up with the modest electrical demands of a 706 gas or diesel. In some cases in changing to an alternator you would have to change polarity, which can be a real pain. Also, the wiring diagrams for this tractor would cover a generator, not an alternator.

I agree with Bill never seen or heard of 706 being 6 volt, if its a diesel it could have 2 6 volt (3EH batt. type) hooked together to make a 12 volt or if gas a single 12 volt battery. David

Are you sure it's not already 12 volt? Never seen anything but 12 volt on a 706. Is it gas or diesel?
