The guy I bought the tractor from said the distributor was converted to a ? '47 dodge distributor? He said this conversion was common. Is anybody familiar with what this could conversion would be? I would like to get a new cap and points but factory parts probably won't work.

Thanks for looking.

Phil

It appears to be the standard stock delco coil. I just tuned her up with TSC parts and she runs a lot better.

I guess the guy I bought it from really didn't know about the conversion. It appears to be a stock Delco distributor.

If it was converted from a magneto, it will have a vertical distributor like this one. (My A after refurbishing).

Waw Bill, That is a nice looking tractor. Mine does have a verticle distributor set-up. What type of distributor is on your tractor?

Phil

Phil,

Delco-Remy.

They tell me if it is vertical, it has been converted from a magneto system, which I know is correct on mine because my Granddad bought it new in '47, and he was the one that changed it over.

Good luck,
Bill

I see lots of Delco Remy conversions. Is that what you have?

I will check on the delco Remy conversion. What does that look like? How could you tell?

I'm not sure what it is. I think the guy said dodge...too bad he didn't put a six cylinder in the tractor. That would be a bad little cultivator! :)
