I am trying to get this new super A running better. It starts and runs but it doesn"t seem to run well at higher RPM"s. The engine starts bogging down and then seeks. Some times it just starts bogging down and stops. It seems to run smoother at lower RPM"s. So far I have changed out the old fuel; shortened the adjusting rod between the governor and the carburetor(I think that is what it is) and I fixed the lever on the throttle so it will hold its postion on the throttle quadrant. I also put in a new battery. Does anyone have any other suggestions or know what type of problem this might be?

Thanks,
Phil

DOH! I just put new points, cap rotor and condensor in her and she runs a lot better. It appears that the carb may not be the problem after all. It is nice to be able to drive it withough it stalling out.

I figured the guy before me had done the tune up, since he said he rebuilt the carb.

Everything pointed to the carb. But the points were really pitted. Now on to the sheet metal.

THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL YOUR HELP.

Phil I had a problem with my c tractor after I completely rebuild it. It acted like your is acting, after many days of going by thought I tryed every thing eletrical, carb, wiring, dist, timing. Come to find out I had brought a new manifold for it and it was cast poorly it had a hole up inside it where it let the exhaust run into the intake sideof it It was made in china. I ordered a new made in usa and it solved all my problems. If you have your oringal maniford and you are still having problems I would be glad to help Just email me Thanks Ken

How do you do that? Lengthen the governor rod again or use the idle adjustment screw? It did have a fuel leak at the hose end by the carburetor so I am changing that. Please let me know how to do that.

Thanks for the reply. It could be just that fuel leak is starving the engine.

when you have the line off, crack the petcock to see if you have a good flow. check the screen as mentioned and adjust the mixture screw. If that doesnt help, the float in the carb is set to low and needs adjusting..depends on how old the fuel was before you changed it, you may need to dip the carb in solvent and put a kit in.....and / or clean the fuel tank too....

While you have the fuel line off, clean the screen in the fitting on the carb, it might be plugged. Good luck, Greg
