My 300 runs great when the choke is pulled out, but when it is pushed in it spurts and sputters for awhile and then finally dies. What can I do to correct this problem? Also, is there a way to adjust the clutch. Should you be able to shift gears on the fly when the PTO is not engaged? Thanks.

You have a lean condition. check for fuel flow from the carb drain, you should have a pencil sized stream with the sediment bowl valve open, if not unhook the fuel line from the carb, there is a little screen in the carb where the line hooks up, check this. Then check the sediment bowl screen. If still no flow it is the third screen in the fuel tank. If you find you have good flow, you need to look at the carb for float sticking and clear passages. Last possiblity is you have a vacuum leak somewhere on the intake manifold.
Hope this helps.

You cannot shift gears on the fly,no synchros.Yes the clutch is adjustable, but the clutch and TA is a rather complicated adjustment procedure. If you need choke all the time, its running way to lean. You have a plugged up carb inlet screen or a plugged passage inside the carb.
