Anyone ever bought manual reprints?

Well, I'm making a long day driving tomorrow from Central Illinois to Ohio to get my new loader for the tractor I still don't have (getting it from WI next week).

I was thinking about getting some manuals for my new 656 and IH 2000 loader. Has anyone ever bought a set of those manual reprints? Are they pretty useful to a new-to-tractors guy? Are there any substantial differences in manuals, or the tractors loaders over the course of the model life... like do I need a 1970 manual for my 1970 656, or will any 656 manual do?

Oh yeah.. I found out the IH 2000 loader came off a 565 utility, so I "think" it should bolt right up to my International version 656 (or should I say.. I hope).

Thanks again!

Darren

Anyone ever bought the CD version that's on e-bay now. Just reading the ad it sounds like a stack of manuals, but if you read closely you will see that it's a CD. Pretty good price, but I don't know the origin of the CD.

Thanks
Steven

Your best sources are either CaseIH or Binder Books (.com). If you're new to tractors, a set is probably indispensible, particularly the Operators Manual. The manuals typically don't vary from year to year for a given model.

I agree with Dick,

Don't buy the "copied" ones because you will be disappointed. Get the real McCoy from IH or another source such as ebay.

I just got a manual from Case IH for a baler and it had been copied which made the pictures difficult to make out. So I'm not a big fan of Case IH, but I have never been disappointed with Binder Books. Your experience may vary. Dick Davis

Dick,

I had good luck with binder books also. I bought a complete set of manuals for a 1961 IH crew cab truck with a 9 foot dump bed... I sold that for $1500 and now I kind of wish I had kept it... oh well.. it was actually a HUGE project to get it nice.

An Operators Manual, Service Manual, and Parts Manual will be the best money you spend. Jeff

read that 565 utility the loader came from as 656.. fingers weren't cooperating.
