There were also mounted and semi-mounted plows for the M and H. The HM-150 is a disk plow, and the HM-7 and HM-19 are front mounted middlebusters with a center rear plow. There are lots more middlebusters made, like the HM-10, that are kinda hard to find. I have the parts catalog for farmall middlebusters, and it details all that were made for the family.

My dad had a 47 M and had the # 8 plow in a 3x14. It was OK in sand but in clay was too much plow for the depth he wanted to plow. He bought a used # 8 with slatted bottoms and a 2x16. It was a perfect match for the M in clay. With the slatted bottoms there was less moldborad scour.

The most common plow sold to buyers of new 1947 Farmall M's by International Harvester Dealers was the McCormick-Deering Little Genius No. 8 with 3 14 inch bottoms.

I live in update New YOrk and plow mostly corn fields and my 49 M pulls a 3-14 trip plow in 3rd gear mostly wide open.

Mike: Have to agree with Cowman on the Little Genius for a trailer plow. There was also a two way mounted plow, model number M-188. You can't exclude the Model 39 tumblebug roll over trailer plow either.

The #8 Little Genius in a two bottom is a nice match. In some localities you might pull a 3 botton.
