I know I"ve seen posts about this before but I can"tseem to find it in the archives. I"ve got this 806 diesel with alternator with built in regulator and the amp light keeps flashing, it seems to be charging cause I"ve been useing the tractor for haying and it starts just fine.I put a meter on the alt and it reads about 13 volts. If I have the throttle open and slowly start bringing it back towards idle the light will quit flashing untill I"m at idle then it starts flashing again. thanks for any help. Gene

Gene - Sounds like the alternator is going away. A voltmeter across the batteries should indicate least 14.0 volts with the engine running. Your reading of 13 is too low - the flashing light is further indication something's amiss.

I've had a couple fail the same way. In both cases it was the internal regulator gradually failing. For about $12 you can replace the regulator. And it can be accomplished without removing the alternator.

However for another $30 - $40 you can replace the alternator with a fresh rebuild containing a new regulator, brushes, bearings, etc. That would be my recommendation!
