For an H, how many pounds torque are the bolts that hold the rear wheel clamps tightened to? Couldn't find it in the manuals or archives. I had a wheel migrate along the axle and want to get it right.

If you are talken axel bolts the 3/4 drive with a 4 foot cheeter pipe unless you are as strong a a buddy of mine then no cheeter pipe as he broke my S K 3/4 ratchet with no cheeter pipe just both hands and bracing both feet as for me i have never broke it myself even using a 6 foot cheeter when the compressor went down and i could not use Bertha my 1 inch impact that put out 1850 ft.lb . and had to take the finals out of a dozer .

Make sure that the bolts are not too long, and tighten them often. A 3/4" grade 2 bolt should take 170 ft.lb. Grade 5 is about 260 ft.lb.

Use your 1/2 inch drive breaker bar and tighten as much as possible. Drive the tractor around a bit and then retighten.

The torque spec depends on the size and type of bolt. Some of the Blue Ribbon service manuals have a chart. Basically unless you put a breaker bar on them you can't get them too tight, the crude way is to just tighten them until you are afraid the threads will strip -- othewise post the size and someone will have a torque figure.

You said axle bolts, I was thinking rim bolts. The answer to that one is TIGHT -- I have never had one slip, and you probably don't have a torque wrench that reads that high.
