Help/ Info needed...Correct Decal Wording for a C?

We are in the end run of restoring our 1949 C---Sn FC24252. It looks to be an early January/ February/March model based on the late 48 and early 49 casting codes. What should the proper wording be for the main hood decal? IH McCormick or McCormick Deering or something else? I know my early H and M need the McCormick Deering styles. Did the C ever have any variations or were they all the IH McCormick styles?

Thanks

Mark

The one I am working on is a late '48 C (FC 21786), and was wondering the same thing. CNKS is correct, but the only supplier I have found that offers a "McCormick-Deering" doesn't have the "IH" logo in front. Don't believe that is correct for this year. Not far enough along in my rebuild to start calling around and asking. Send me an e-mail if you find a good supplier. Are you using mylar or vinyl?

I ordered a set from Iron Horse Decals in West Fargo, ND. (they advertise in Red Power) I have used them in the past and they seem pretty good. I will use the mylar, I can't justify the vinyl ones (cost wise) I have never seen any with IH McCormick Deering on them, so I guess I will just use the IH McCormick.

Maple Hunter has the correct decals, and they will be correct as to year. 765-932-2027.

The decision to drop the Deering name was in mid-July 1949. That is not to say that Deering was not used for a while afterward. The correct wording for your tractor is "IH McCormick Deering Farmall"

I don't have the book in front of me right now, but if I remember correctly, a C would have had the "IH" logo with just "McCormick" over the "FARMALL" on the hood decal.

Guy Fay's Letter Series Originality Guide would be the book to check for sure.
