The brakes have been fading on the 52 H that I have. I pulled the cover and found grease on the linings. I have pulled the two seals on each side and found a number on the backside of the sheetmetal that held the two seals on each side. It is 48498-D Is this the number for the container and both seals or just the container. Is this an IH number or a seal number?
Are these still available form IH or do I need to go to a bearing shop to get the seals?
Any tricks to installing the seals?

While you have the seal out, it would not hurt to look at the bearings. A leaky seal can mean that a bearing is bad.

No tricks, use a block of wood or a socket if you have one that fits, I just use the wood. That is an IH number -- Other numbers for the same seal are 358777 R91 and 360252 R91. The current IH seal may have a different number -- doesn't matter as your dealers computer will cross it to the correct number. A seal/bearing place will cross it also. You can put 2 on each side if you want, but the new seals are far better than the leather ones that came on your tractor.

Seals can be bought from C/IH. Also auto parts store or bearing/seal supplier can cross reference the numbers.
