Does anyone have an online source of a wiring diagram for a 1958 Farmall 140? I know that pieces of it are patched, and that the battery previously went down on it because of a short, and we"re trying to start from the beginning to rule out anything at the control panel.

The inside of the panel looks like the worst end of a squirrels nest. I know the fuse in it is not connected, and it looks like an attempt was made previously to "patch" it the panel, but looks like there are a couple of cold solder joints in it that I can see from just a glance into it.

If there are some parts that are suitable replacements for these, let me know too. If it turns out there"s a book available, that knowledge would be appreciated.

I"m not sure that we"re going to buy a wiring harness for this tractor, since we would be essentially rebuilding it anyway from scratch doing what we"re doing.

Any help, advice appreciated.

Your best source is the Operator's manual for your tractor. It gives the exact location of all parts of the electrical system. My I&T manuals do not included wiring diagrams, can't speak for all of them. New wiring harnesses are available from various sources, including Case-IH. Bob M's diagrams can be adapted to about any letter/number series.

most wiring diagrams can be found in an IT manual available at any good IH dealer. good luck!
