I have never done this but I am putting my cub engine back in and was wanting opinions on getting the clutch plate aligned back. My Idea was to snug the pressure plate against the clutch where clutch plate would still move. slide engine into place over shaft and tightened pressure plate up through the inspection hole? It appeared to be enough room through the hole. Is it? Thanks for your input.

I do it the easy way, I have a clutch aliment tool costs around $15 which is cheap and it works on almost any clutch. Any good parts store will have them

GNB:

Easily done as you suggested. There is enough room to reach the pressure plate bolts through the inspection plate hole.

I also pick up junkers and cut the shafts off so I have alignment tools. I would imagine that a cub is smaller than and H cause I think I have an extra H shaft. JON

I used an old splined shaft from a junked car transmission. I've used sockets that will just fit inside the clutch disc to align the splined area with the pilot bearing. I also put a light coating of lubi-plate on the splined shaft so the
clutch disc will slide on easily when installing the engine. Hal
