Whats the proper rim color for a 1951 Super C ? Mine are a dull gray color. Are they suppose to be the bright aluminum color? If so whats the best paint to use. Was thinking on the Rustolum Aluminum paint. Thanks in advance for your help.

I believe they should be bright aluminum. I used rustoleum on my W4 and it turned out ok. Trick is to do good prep, clean surface and good primer. Aluminum paint is very thin. Besides a primer I put a thick coat of rustoleum gray, sanded, then added two coats of aluminum, sanding between each coat. Been a year and no problems.

Originally the rims were galvanized, but apparently (someone please correct me if I'm in error) rusted pretty quickly. Many were repainted silver or aluminum colors by IH dealers. People use all type of combinations of silver, grey and aluminum. Noticed in the store yesterday that Rustoleum has a "hammertone" silver/grey color in a rattle can. Going by the top of the can it looked a lot like galvanized steel. I may give this a try as I am preparing to paint some rims on a '48 C. Jeff
