My father passed away and I need some advise on how to sell his Super H and MTA. Both are "show condition" tractors and he entered the MTA in several antique tractor pulls in 2003. I want to do my job as his estate executor, but also would like to see these enjoyed by someone else the way he did. Any advice on auction or shows in the midwest (I still have is trailer), or trade/collector publications would be welcome. Thanks from his kid that moved to the city.

There are a few fairly large antique tractor consignments in Northern Indiana that are usually well attended. Also Red Power magazine caters to IH tractor enthusiasts.

Dennis Polk & Associates at the corner of S.R. 15 & US 6 in Elkhart County, IN, near New Paris is a place to check. They have a huge auction each fall.

If they are as described, and it sounds like your Father knew what he was doing, the absolute minimum price should be $2500 for the Super H (if it is a Stage 2) and $5000 for the MTA. They are really worth more than that, the SH "might" bring $3500, the MTA $7500. These are prices for people who know what the tractors are, how many were built, etc. The Stage 2 Super H has live hydraulics and the battery under the seat, subtract $500-$1000 for a Stage 1.

Get some pictures and post them here, let us all have a look at them. We can help determine a ball-park price so you won't be completely in the dark. You can then advertise them for sale right here in either the classified ads or the photo ads. You can also list them on e-bay if desired. Also, someone may be able to help locate a good auction company in your area if we knew where the tractors are located.

Condolences on your loss,
There is a Vintage Ads section on this site.
Those are very desirable tractors, be realistic but firm, Find out their condition/history and write it up to share with potential buyers, and as data on the sales add.
Good luck getting them into the right appreciative hands Jim Nicholson
