You can calculate your speed over a known distance.
EX: Measure off a 1000 foot distance and use a stop watch or your second hand for time in seconds. Then use this equation: Hal R= d_ 1000ft t ----- = 8 X 3600sec=28800 125sec ----- =5.45mph 5280ft

The speed is 5 1/8 with 12.4-38 tires. On rough ground you may find this too fast, 3rd is 4 1/4. I have calibrated a sprayer many times with water only simply by running about 1000 feet beginning with a full tank, then adding water until full again. there will be variation from nozzle to nozzel, if that is important to you can check each individual nozzle -- I see no need to unless you have to have it perfect. Depending on what you are using, the results with the chemical included may be slightly different, usually lower due to higher viscosity, so it's best to calibrate with the actual chemical. Again, I usually don't.

Drive it down the road and let some one follow you with a car. That will probaly be as close as you can get.

Don't guess. Find a measured mile, load the sprayer half full, measure your time both ways at the throttle setting you are going to use. I do this in 4th and 3rd because some rough fields I have to spray in 3rd.

Your tire size, inflation, governer setting, and overall tractor condition will affect your speed. You probably have bigger tires than what the book speed shows.

Then run your sprayer while sitting still with plain water in it and fill a bucket out of one nozzle until you get two or three gallons. Time the fill and measure what you have filled (I use a quart measuring cup) to get an accurate idea of how much fluid you are pumping, times the number of nozzles. For accuracy, I like to run on the relief valve. My sprayer will put out over 60 psi in all conditions so I set the relief at 60 psi and let a little bit bypass all the time so I have consistent pressure and therefore consistent flow through the nozzles.

A little arithmetic and you can easily figure how many gallons per acre you are putting down.

According to Guy Fay's Tractor Data Book it is 5 1/8 mph.
