I have to admit it, I bought a John Deere B. However it was for my wife. She thought that 7 reds were in excess. I don't think so, maybe now I'm good for seven more!

Great thing to buy! I've got a shirt that says friends don't let friends drive red tractors, thinking maybe stange stole that and twisted it around. I don't wear it much though, cause although some guys got the wrong color on their mind, people who are into old tractors are almost always a great group of people.

I can understand your plight. I married into a mixed family of sorts. My wife is a strong John Deere family and I grew up IHC Red. So far she allows the red without much said. I think she has been schooling our daughter as she will be marrying into a green family. I told my future son in-law that "Friends don't let Friends drive Green". Apparently it doesn't matter to him.

Seriousily enjoy your differences it makes for a richer life.

Jeez....

"Red and Green make Christmas"????

Two tones of Gray with Red around here...

A 1951 Ferguson TO-20 and (for Fathers Day), "She who MUST be obeyed" had a 1956 300U fully restored and delivered to the house.

Although, she says it's so I can mow the yard faster (5acre yard).

My first tractor was a Farmall A (given to me)and it is being restored at the moment. My second was a John Deere B that was purchased at an auction a few months ago. I have really enjoyed the B a lot (it runs great) and can"t wait to start the A for the first time.

Thanks for the information. I was wondering what the ratio should be. I've got 4 of the green things, A, B, B, and H. We've got 37 Farmalls, so I guess I need at least one more JD until I can find some more Farmalls.

Del:
This is so funny as I bought my wife a JD B about 2 weeks ago! She thought we needed some variety in the shed. My dad thinks that i"m nuts buying anything but red...however up here those B"s are not too common-- I only know of one other one in my county so it"s a neat thing to have. You"ve gotta love the sound they make too...

I think everyone should have one of those green tractors you need four hands to operate around. Makes your appreciation of red ones grow! :>)

In Manitoba John Deere B's are as common as dirt. also fairly affordable as JD's go.

OK, if it's true confession time, a while back I got an itch for one of those hand clutch things. Well I scratched it and have really enjoyed using the left hand to make the tractor go/stop/creep. I can see why people who like green enjoy using them. But I was really lucky I got a Farmall M from Rob with an M &W hand clutch so I didn't actually have to buy a jd. My nickel Dick Davis

When you got to the "left hand" part I figured something was fishy.

I got my hand clutch M started last nigh tand pulled the V rake down to where my hand was mowing. We'll get the baler over there tonight.

YOU might need four hands to operate the green two banger but when your over seventy you need a crane to set you on the seat of the red one. Just finished restoring a Super A. ----- Harold
