h not starting after new point * condensor

Hi Just wondering what i did wrong? My h started ok before i changed the points ans condensor.but now there is no spark.I set the points at 30 thousands when the points are open.That when it on the corners of the disturbor. I put the wire on the condersor on the post on the right side that where the old one was.Do i need it to be open on the first plug when i set the 30 thousands? Or i missed some thing eles. thank you for your help.

Try dragging a clean business card soaked lightly in contact cleaner through the points.I dont recall any vehicle having .030" for point gap.The condensor connection is insulated from ground also check that.

@ .30 I dont believe your points are closing good . My manual for H says .20 I would regap and try again. Jay

Most likely the wire to points or condenser is grounded on distribitor housing this is easy to do. As long as points are opening and closing it will fire no matter what the setting is, might not run well though,

Good grief, man! Where'd you get the idea to set the points at .030"????

Distributor points = .020"

Magneto points = .013"

30 thou sounds a bit wide for points gap; check species again to make sure. A thing I have experienced with new points in cars anyway, is that there is often a protective film between the contacts that needs to be cleaned off so as to allow a good contact. Hope this helps.
