Got the old bushing/babbit out and got the new bushings from McMaster Carr. Drilled a 1/4" oil hole and put them in the freezer overnight and pressed them in today. They are too tight on the shaft and will need reemed out a bit. I think they should be just fine. $1.98 each sure beats $16.88 each from dealer. Thanks Pharmall for finding them.

Sounds good so far! Glad to help. The reaming will still cost a bit, but they won't have to remove much material. Jeff

Thanks for asking Hal.. It was a '48 "C" actually. Haven't had much time lately, but I did manage to get the crankshaft pulley off today. Made up one of those pullers like the one that you posted. It worked well, but I blew the seal on a 2 ton hydraulic press before using one that was more appropriately sized. That first "tingk" was a pretty nice sound! Suprised that there was no keyway though...

Got the wheels and torque tube off, and getting ready to take off the axle housings 'cause those seals were leaking really bad. The archives have me a little concerned about the inner seal, but we'll burn that bridge later. Off to the local county fair with sweetie tonight...

If you're planning to pull many damper pulleys
you should buy a hydraulic ram. They work in the upright or horizontal mode. Northern Tool and Equipment have them. Have fun tonight. Hal
