I appreciate the RE from dutch & aces

now have more ?
some one replaced rear axel and housing because a tree fell on tractor
when i got it was in parts allthow they had replaced left rear housing and wheel and had most of the other parts
the bull pinion shaft sticks out to far to allow putting plug in brake housing, the bull pinion dosent seem to have any play in it
BUT the axel has IT manual shows 4 shims

could it be ok to just cover hole on brake cover
or grind down end of shaft
i dont mind shiming axel but unless there would be danger in trusting there work i would not love to re do all of it is it posible to install the parts wrong and still work

serial# 6850 farmall

What tractor are you working on ? All Farmall lines may have started with serial number 500.

I would not trust their work. There is a reason that the bull pinion shaft is sticking out too far. If you don't fix that, you will have trouble.

A little punctuation would make it easier to figure out what you are asking.

hello riverbend
not to good on punctcuration

706 farmall ser# 6850
pic in photos

some one replaced left rear housing after tree fell on it.
i got it in parts unassembled

put brake cover on and cant get plug in hole.
looks like they may have left the cup plug out of inner axel bearing as oil gets in from trans, other side dont.
also up & down play in outer axel bearing.
discovered this after assembly while using, left wheel would chatter a little when backed up, probly done it going forward to but i never noticed till hooking up.

could they have used parts from a diferent model?

or spelling either
