Dunno if anyone mentioned it, but another possiblity is that the keyway in the cam gear on the front of the hydraulic pump is sheared off.

Seen that happen to my Dad's Super M several times over the years when doing things like shaking the tailgate on the manure spreader to knock some of the stuff off.

I had that trouble with my SMTA when I rebuilt engine and put in new points and condenser. Had switched screws around in it and it caught plate underneath and luckyly just broke pin in the gear in the end of the shaft. That was easy to fix, if other things suggested are the problem you have your weekends work ahead.

Assuming the engine turns W/starter, and the rotor does not.
1}look inside dist. backing plate to see if centrifugal advance parts are moving when cranking --if not pull dist.off of hyd pump. if they are, repait the advance springs etc, just under the breaker plate.
2) w/the dist. off see if the hyd pump turns when cranking. if yes the dist. shaft drive is broken. if not pull hyd. pump from front drive housing.
3}look into pump hole and see if gears/drive is turning when cranking. if not the gears are toothless. (requires disassembly of front cover)

Len - Another possibility is the cam gear hub has broken. It's not uncommon with the C264 engine with a live hydraulic pump - it happened to a buddy's 400 a couple years ago.

Can check by unbolting the distributor drive housing from the hydraulic pump (2 bolts) and removing it. Now watch the slotted distributor drive coupling on the backside of the hyd pump while you crank the engine. If the coupling does not turn it means the cam gear has failed.

Not a difficult job to install a new cam gear but it requires removing some heavy parts from the front end (entire front bolster assembly and radiator) to get to it.

Could be the little pin in the gear on the end of the shaft.

I'd hope for a stripped gear on the shaft.
