As a follow up to an ealier post about replacing the front seal on an M&W pump. I took the front plate to my NAPA dealer with the old seal still installed, in case the orginal seal number would be of any help in cross referencing. For good measure I took along the plate from the pump I had replaced also with the seal in place. Neither number was of any use - and they were different - and the seals measured different OD. The old Napa parts guy extracted the seal and ordered the closest he could find. It was smaller ID which made the installation a bit of a challange. I have leak checked it and so far so good but haven't worked the hydraulics hard so that test is still to come. The episode reminds me that the old part for a reference/example/measurement sometimes saves the day. My nickel Dick Davis.

Dick, Do you have that NAPA part number? I have a M&W pump on the shelf that I could get a new seal for. Someday I may want to put the pump on one of my tractors and having a new seal handy would be a good idea.

Thanks,Bob

The napa number I thought I had sent Dick was #7443. My reply must not have gone through.
