I recently bought a used after market M&W governor for my IH #560 gas. When installing, found that thrust bearing on the shaft was bad. Tried IH dealer, IH part will not fit. It is a roller bearing with a race on each side, about three-sixteens thick. M & W no longer in business. Any ideas where I might locate a M&W thrust bearing? I would appreciate any help. Thanks

You can contact Timken Bearings at www.timken.com
to see if they have a replacement bearing. You would need a number off the old bearing and some accurate measurements from the old bearing. They may be able to cross-reference it to a Timken. Hal

M&W most likely (?) wouldn't have been the primary bearing manufacturer, especially for these low volumes. They probably used an existing bearing design in their replacement governor design.

Kaman, W.M. Berg, and McMaster-Carr can get just about any bearing ever manufactured, or a copy. All of these websites have a dealer locator, and they accept credit cards. The local reps at each of these companies in my area have a "bearing expert" working in customer service that can help identify the correct replacement if you can give them the exact dimensions and description. There may even be an OEM part number (very small) located somewhere on the bearing. Good luck! Jeff
