Look at this ebay listing. >Link

That>Link is a little "import" tractor dealer near me, went and looked at the tractor, it's a decent little H, single front, no live hydraulics, homemade 3 point run off belly pump, nice loader (I think it's a Du-al). Figured he was trying to see what he could get on ebay, just about fell over when he said the asking price is $3995... He asked what I was thinking, I said $1500-2000, said he gave more than that for trade in! Seem a bit steep to anybody else?

Little more information:

This is a Farm Trac dealer (Jinma import tractors, glorified lawn mowers basically). I would agree the loader is worth 1000-1500, but that's off the tractor, I typically see tractors sell at auction with the loader for $500 or so more than if it didn't have a loader. So it's a decent little H, maybe $1000-$1500, with loader, I would expect $1500-2000. The three point has solid arms (don't swing) so it's basically worth what the cylinder cost, would need redesigned to be usable. The $3995 is what they are asking at the store. $2500 wouldn't be bad, but more than I would pay. The tractor doesn't have live PTO (in spite of what the dealer insists, I don't think he knows what live PTO means).

Scary thing is, he has 2 people who are trying to get the money together (so he says)...

I have several tractors I would love to trade in at what he gives, but then I would have to buy a Jinma...

Well, first of all the auction is at $2500 with no reserve which I feel is a fair price for an H with a loader in good shape. Single front wheel is rare...

I have over $4000 in my H with the cost of a complete major overhaul, adding power steering and live hydraulics, fixing the mounted mower, etc. And it still needs tires and paint! NOW, I am NOT saying that is what the tractor is worth when I want to sell it, just how much I've got in it.

Would I do it again? You bet! It starts and runs better than a lot of newer, more expensive tractors.

It still has no bids with 2 plus days remaining on a 10 day listing. In my opinion he started it priced much too high.

What a dealer gives on a trade-in has little relationship to what he has in it.

IF the LOADER is in good shape, its worth more then the tractor. How does an H have live PTO?

I'll clarify, the loader is worth $1000 - $1,800 (is there a bucket?), the tractor is worth about $1000 - $1600 (depends on how nice the home-made 3 point is).
