My 300U has been acting up lately. Maybe you guys can help me out. First of all the only things I haven't changed are the points and coil.
The tractor will start running rough and will kill. Sometimes it sounds like its reving up and down by itself and then kills. Its not heat related or amount of time the tractor runs. It could run an hour or five minutes before it happens. Any ideas?

Check the fuel supply to the carburetor. It might have a restriction in it that prevents full fuel flow but still allow enough that it will start right up.

Well since it does run its not the coil, the points also wouldn't do that they can make it run ruff but not make it just stop and then be able to restart. I'd take a look at the carb maybe even do a rebuild on the carb.
