my freind's got a 430 baler with a 10 kicker on it. the drive shaft for the kicker started smoking on him last year and I helped him pull the shaft out of the tube today. It needs bearings and bushings and I don't want to take the front bearing off the shaft the long way. Is the slip clutch very hard to reassemble? I can't figure out how to get it off the shaft but I am working with one hand right now (Had a dumb!## moment greasing the backhoe and broke 2 fingers). Anyhow, any info on the slip clutch is appreciated as I think the shaft has to go into the tube that end first due to the brass bushings, to put them in place for the set screws. Also there was hytran oil in the tube should it be an oil bath?
thanks

Hi Scot_c, it has been a long since I helped my brother replace one of those bearings in the drive shaft but if I remember correctly we took the pulley off the kicker end and pulled the shaft out the front. Replaced the bearing and slid the shaft back in place.
Re pulley on front, I believe there is a C-clip
on the end of the shaft that holds a sprng against the front portion of the pulley. Becareful the spring is under considerable tension.

There was no oil in the shaft of my brother's #10 kicker.

Good luck

thanks, it sounds like someone did this one a little different. I helped them pull the shaft like you said but it's got 3 or 4 brass bushings that keep the shaft centered in the tube. My freind's got a freind that built his pulling tractor and is better at such things, they are probably going to have him put it together.
