International Quick Hitch

I"m looking at an International 240. It has a quick hitch with the inserts to convert to a three point.

Are there any limitations or negatives to this setup versus a standard three point hitch? Would the availability of implements be limited in any way? It seems that the sideways swing is less on the quick hitch.

Actually I sort of like the way the quick hitch has the external lift cylinder. Are there any positives to this set up? How is the lift strength on this compared to a standard three point? It seems that there may be more pressure on the lift side (left) than on the the other. I"m not sure if this is significant?

Andy

My Super C has a Fast Hitch with 3ph adapter. The only drawbacks I've found so far are 1) The implement has to have the lift pins just the right spacing or it won't fit the tractor lift arms and 2) Some implements don't get along well with the geometry of the 3ph adapters. For instance, my 3ph finish mower just won't lift right.

But otherwise, it works fine for me. The Fast Hitch is strong enough to make the front end of the Super C too light when lifting things in my carry-all.

Good luck,
Bill

We had a 240U with fast hitch and had a 3 point conversion kit. For a small tractor, you will be suprised how strong that hitch is and how handy the tracor is.

Andy: Fast Hitch or quick hitch as you are calling it will work well on the 240. Mounted implements have always worked well on tractors configured like 240, or Fergies, Fords, etc. With the operator moved foreward this gives room for hitch function.

Two common faults of fast hitch were, and this first one applied to 3 point as well. When operators seat was positioned almost directly over hitch as in older and larger row crops, hitch did not have room for ideal function. The second item applies to fast hitch and large tractors like 400, 450 and 560. The hitch also being used as drawbar for large pull type implements, didn't stay tight very long. Wear was the big problem on pins and linkage. The smaller tractors were more or less immune to this.
