Do I need a voltage regulator for my IH 330U if it is converted to 12V and has a 12V coil?

If the alt. is just a common AC Delco, look at the wires, there's one big wire thats positive and bolts on the back of the alt., and two smaller wires that should be in a connector. Where this connector is will tell you if its internal regulated or external regulated. If the connector is flat and plugs into the side of the alt. then its an internal regulated and if the connector is square and plugs into the back of the alt. then thats an external regulated.

If you're using a 12volt generator you need a regulator. Some of the alernators have built
in regulators. Hal

I have a 12V alternator with I think 3 wires. How could I find out about the regulator?

Post the model number and make of the alternator
and someone may know if it has a built-in regulator. Hal
