I recently purchased a Wagner Mod 110-1 loader for my 350U. I'm going to replace the hoses and check the hyd cylinders for operation before mounting on the tractor. (It came off of a non-running tractor) The lift cyls are single action but I notice that there is a plug at the opposite end of the cyls. Can they be made to operate as double action by adding hoses and connecting to the tractor hydra touch cyls??

Usually if there is a port on both ends of the cylinder they can be made to be double acting. However, is that plug a vented plug? In order for the cylinder to work one-way, the other end would need to be vented. I have true single acting rams on an old trip bucket loader and the cyl. rods themselves are fairly large in diameter, maybe 3/4 the size of the body of the cylinder. It has no piston, the hyd pressure pushes the rod itself out. Those can't be made double acting.
So if your rods are smaller and there is a vented plug on the "other" end, they are double acting cylinders.

Some of the large one-way cylinders have a threaded hole at the outer end that can be plumbed back to return leakage to the sump. The large diameter rod and type seal of the piston restrict it to one-way even with the plumbing connected to the outer end.
