I changed the hydraulic oil filter on our 806 this morning. I was surprised to find this crack after removing the plate by the filter. Does anyone know what would cause this or whether or not it would cause a noisy/weak MCV pump? if you put your finger in the tube you can wiggle it. The picture below shows the crack(its in the lower tube)

That tube that your looking at will wiggle cause the only things holding it is the o-ring in the hitch pump and the seal thats in the filter housing. I can't tell by the pictures but if oil is leaking though the tube and seal just replace the seal and if oil is leaking through a crack in the casting then that should be fixed. The oil in that part is filtered oil and since there is oil coming in from elswhere this can cause premature pump failior for both hitch and MCV pumps.

It was a little dark on my monitor, too. I find I often have trouble seeing pics on this and other sites. I use DigitalEnhance to lighten them up. One day last week I looked at one I had brightened and the original on a PC at work. The original, while not as bright, was plainly visible. Now I know the problem is at least partly with my monitor, but haven't a clue how to adjust it.

Chadd,
I'm not seeing the crack. Is it in the casting?

I don't claim to be an expert, but the tube you can wiggle is your oil pick-up for the pump, and it should have an o-ring around it. I wish I knew if the oil level was above, or over, this area (I think it is). If the oil level is above the pick up tube a poor seal would just allow some oil to be sucked out of the case instead of through the filter, which shouldn't have any affect on the pump's operation. Surely one of the guys here will know and help us out. Good luck.
