I am amazed at how easy it is to work on my 560. Today I got the tractor ready for my brother to use on his eight row cultivator. He has a pattern of not stopping until after dark so I rewired the lights and they work perfect. I followed the IH manual on adjusting the clutch and TA which is very detailed but simple. It works perfect now. We replaced the top link of the 3 point with a hydraulic cylinder which my brother welded cat 2 ends on so now I can lift that cultivator a mile high. Used it on the 3 point field cultivator also which was fun. I'll try to get some pictures to show you my setup.

Lance: Glad to hear someone finding that clutch-TA adjustment easy. Makes one awfully big difference with that correct. One of the most common complaints we hear on discussions is tractors hanging in gear and can't shift until they pull back TA lever. Technically with proper adjustment the clutch pedal does all. If you find after week or so tractor is hanging in gear a bit, just shorten that short linkage between clutch shaft and TA shaft about 1/2 to 1 complete turn on theaded yoke.

My purpose of this post was to help you point out just how easy this is. No need of all these guys going around growling about how bad TA works. The adjustment is quick and it is easy, wouldn't you agree.

Hugh, When I start doing a project I've never done it can be intimidating at times. This was not the case with the Clutch and TA. The IT manual was not near as helpful as the IH manual. My next big project is to replace the transmission/rear-end lid seal as I have Hy-tran leaking out the top when I use 5th gear. Once that gets done its off to the paint shop and new tires.

Lance: I see your also looking for 15 x 38 rims. I can't believe they are not available. You'll like the 560 around the farm when you get those 16.9x38 tires on rear. I remember when I put those on 560 and 656, that more than any single item made those tractors. 560 is still the better drawbar puller of the two. The 656 with it's 3 point and edge on manuverability had it's advantages also.

No question those two tractors with the 282 diesel, are the most efficient tractors I ever farmed with. If they would repeat the plan and build new ones in 2005, I'll bet they would cost less than most new 60 hp tractors and would still come out on top on efficiency.
