Hi,

I'm assembling the motor for a '40 M, and I've gotten to the point where I need to install safety wire on the main bearing cap bolts...something I haven't done before. Any suggestions on the right and wrong way to do this? I get the part about wiring them to pull tighter as opposed to looser, but beyond that, I'm making it up...

Thanks,

- David

You have the right idea. Just twist the wires together and make a nice it nice and snug. You run the wire through one of the bearing caps bolts and have it long enough to reach the other bolt. When you finish the twisting and then run one of the wire ends through the other bolt head
and pull the twisted wires tight and twist the wire again to secure it. 5 or 6 twists should be enough. Then cut off any access wire. We called this lacing. Hal
