Greetings,

I recently bought a small lot of starters and generators at an auction. I'd like to identify the tractors to match the extras items I don't need.

Is there a reference (short of having the parts catalog for every IH tractor) that I can use to match the other items (with their D-R part #'s) to the tractor model(s) which used them? All are Delco-Remy and are painted IH red, so I'm pretty sure they came off of IH tractors.

Any suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hal W

The best books for finding the applications of the generators are the following IH manuals:

TC29A - Delco Remy Electrical Equip for IH tractors & etc. This manual covers all delco parts used until 1943

TC45A - Delco Remy Electrical Equipment. This manual covers from 1943 to 1952.

TPM2 - Tractor Parts Merchandiser. These cover anywhere from the 1940s to the 60s or 70s (depends on the edition you have)
