I am having trouble with the power stering on my 706, I have rebuilt the stering block, rebuilt the pump and the stering is still hard to turn, it is loud when turing making a whine the stering wheel is jercking when turing. What else is there to rebuilt on it? (Tractor vet thanks for the info on the shifter on this same tractor it works as good as you said it would.)David

max, change the hydraulic filter if it has not beeb changed, a pluged filter will cause a whine and poor steering. steve

Maybe check the pto gear. The splines on the pto gear to the pressure plate could be wore down enough to be slipping and grabbing causing the whine and jerking in the steering. Other symptoms of the pto gear are the remote hyd. and the 3 point would be acting up and the same for the pto.
