I bought a single front wheel H, and would like to have a wide front. Would it be a fair trade (for both parties) to swap my single front for a wide front? Moderators, if you feel this is inappropriate, please feel free to delete.

A good complete original ih wfe here is worth 800-1000 bucks Canadian. Not sure what them single fronts cost though. Is it a fair trade? Well, no cause you got something worh more, but if the guy really wants a cotton wheel, and you want the wf, thenyour both happy, then i would call it fair!

I got a single front end and would like to have NFE dual wheel setup. Most WFE I have seen run about $300-500 for one. I doubt anyone would do an even steven swap, I can see a swap for NFE dual wheel for single wheel as a uniqueness thing.

The single front was used in cotton country from what I have learned. Not much IH down in this country. I have been watching for NFE dual wheel cheap to replace my single wheel setup. Cost of delivery fuel has been eating up any savings I may enjoy on parts.

Best of luck!

It's not a fair trade by any stretch of the imagination. A decent wide front is worth $500 or more. Narrow front ends are a dime a dozen. People give them away.

If you find someone willing to trade a single wheel for a complete wide front, walk away.

If the single for a wide may not wash, what about a single for a regular duel wheel narrow front end?

Bill: My dad had both nf and wf for his 300 when tractor was new. He never used the wide front, thus he sold it. About 10 years later, I wanted a wide front for 300. An AC dealer (2 brothers) had a used Super H with wf. I offered one of the brothers $100. plus my nf and I do all the work of changing front ends. He took me up on it, however later the other brother did a lot of grumbling. That would have been in the late 60s.

Still later I decided I wanted a nf back. I found about a dozen of them at an IH dealer $10. each. I rather doubt if inflation has nf much higher than that today. I know my brother was given a nf off a SC for his 230, just 2 years ago.

You do a bit of looking, I think you will find a regular 2 wheel NF for a song. Your going to pay close to $500. for a wide front in fair condition. My bet is one of the new after market wide fronts will be most economical in long run. Just my assessment of wide fronts I've seen in scrapyards.

Salvage yards should be full of the regular dual wheel narrow fronts. You might be able to find what you want at a price that would make the trading thing a waste of time. Go find what you want, and then advertise the single front for sale. Some people do want the single fronts. On a second thought, where do you live? I might be interested in some sort of swap.

Wild Bill, I've been in a magnanimous mood lately, and have I got a deal for you. Ifn you want to drive up to just outside of Springfield, Mo., straight north of you, I'll give you a narrow, dual front end. Has the pedestal, two hubs, and a center mud scraper. It was given to me by a very nice gentleman on this forum who shall remain nameless but he lives in Wellfleet, Nebraska, and I used the rims off it, and will pass the rest on to you as I don't need it and you do, and I have it and you don't. If you're interested, my email is uncovered. Best to ya, Harley
