Hey guys, what was changed when a 9-speed was put in an H? We have one with it, and we"re going to make it without. It"s a Hiesler (is that spelling right?) but we know it"s not an M&W.
Just kind of curious, thanks.

The Heisler package included the new double gear for the input shaft and a new 4-5 slider gear. For the counter shaft, it appears to have only included the new double gear for shifting ranges (and possibly a hub it runs on?). It also included the shifter parts to change ranges and a new shaft for the reverse slider.

To change back, you will probably need to swap back all the gears that were in the kit. The idler shaft probably doesn't have to come out but you probably should pull it and the shifter parts as well.

Those nine speeds can be fixed. Get you hands on a boston gear catalog, you should be able to find something that fits, or have a machine shop modify the new gears to fit.

Also, all 4 of the additional gears were between the existing 4th and 5th.

It was a overdrive for 1234 & r gears, not 5th. My bosses son has one, kind of cool. Why would you take it out?

Hey, actually I knew that already. The H grandpa started farming with has an M&W 9-Speed. This H is one we bought about a month ago, and there is a gear broken that is part of the nine speed and it was easier to see the local tractor salvage guy than to track down the gear.

I know someone that would trade you your 9 speed for a regular H without. Would you wanna do that? Im not sure of a value change in the two but it would save you some time.

Well, we"ve already got the other parts. Also one gear is broken, maybe some of the other worn ones are part of the 9-speed and impossible to find.

My 1945 farmall H has all the normal gears on the floor, with an additional shifter on the left side of my seat. I apply a shifter in as needed. It looks to be able to shift in two positions. I have never used it fearing something would go wrong or break. But I am wondering if this is what you are calling Nine gears? Thanks for your help. Troy
