Would anyone know which radiator cap I order to replace the one on my MTA? Pulled it off this spring and the underside is all rusted away. Looked on this site and they have two listed for Super M's but nothing specifically for SMTA. Don't want to order the wrong thing. Hoping someone can help.

The same cap fits all pressurized systems from the Super A through the SMTA. I haven't looked on this site, but the one with the lever (actually it's a handle) is the correct one.

CNKS, I am not sure I have ever seen that type of cap before, so bear with me. The cap on the radiator now is just a smooth domed cap that has the word "WATER" embossed in raised letters on it.
Should I be concerned that I don't have a lever-cap and that possibly there is a different radiator on the tractor or no?

Sounds like You already have the WRONG CAP.... CNKS is right... only one pressurized cap fit ALL pressurized letter series. Your SM-TA IS pressurized. Cap also may be kinda "Football" shaped. Check ads in RPM magazine, etc,. Old FARMALL's are easier to find parts for now than 20 yrs ago when IH was still making ag. equip.

That is the pressurized cap -- it may or may not fit your radiator. If your old one just sets in the opening and you can't really tighten it, your old cap is wrong and you have the correct radiator. I bought an early C with the domed cap a couple of months ago. Didn't pay much attention to it, just assumed the radiator was non-pressurized; the cap blew off in transit. Found out I had a pressurized radiator with the wrong cap -- so it does happen.

Hey Doc, any chance I have the wrong radiator too?
Would that be a possibility or should I just order the friggin lever cap and quit over-analyzing this?

I may be wrong but do not believe round dome cap will fit pressure type radiator. The cap for non pressure radiator will fit gasoline tank pressure type will not if cap you have will fit gasoline tank radiator came from early M.

It's a little hard to tell if the radiator cap would fit the gas tank 'cause the whole bottom of it rusted and fell out. I CAN tell you that the gas cap fits the radiator. Would that tend to confirm the diagnosis here that the radiator is from an earlier model M?

Forget my above post where my cap blew off -- you have a non-pressurized radiator if the gas cap fits. With the pressuized cap, the "tongs" on the cap (whatever they are called) are folded inward from the outside circumference of the cap -- the lip on the pressurized radiator is folded outward to match the tongs. On the gas tank and the non-pressurized radiator, the interior of the cap fits INSIDE the opening of the gas tank or radiator.
