I went to run the 1950 C on Friday and got a surprise when I stuck my hand in the tool box under the seat. I didn't have the heart to tear her out so she spent the morning riding around with me.

While we are talking about strange things. I went to pick up eggs one afternoon, reached in without looking and pulled out a skunk. I went up to the house and said to the wife, "Guess what!" She guessed before I got in the door. Good thing too!

Yep, they like the toolbox on my 230 too.....they also like to go in through the starting crank hole and build a nest on the front bolster. I don't mind the wrens but occasionally a WASP will decide to take up inside the toolbox..... NOT good!!!

I once had a bird build a nest of sticks and thorns on the exhaust manifold of my 2940 JD. I was mulching in the field and I started to smell something hot. I decided I better drive up to the shop, but before I could get there in flamed up. The faster I would run the engine the more the fan blew the flames. You can probably imagine my dilema, I couldn't decide if I should drive like heck to the water hose or stop and throw dirt on it. Luckily I remembered my water jug and got it knocked down before it burnt up.

I've had a bad experience with feathered hitchhikers, but when I saw your photo I couldn't help but feel a little different. It looks like a little Wren to me. I can just see her defiantly "riding it out", refusing to leave her nest. I have heard if you have a Christmas tree with a nest in it you will have good luck. Maybe you C is blessed now also.
Paul

One time I was checking the well-head drip oiler on a propane powered circle at about 2:30am.

Had the flashlight and happened to glance over to a pool of water where a rat 'bout the size of a small dog was gettin' a drink and just setting there "looking" at me.

Didn't have the heart to shoot 'im. :>)

Hey Paul - I had a similar hideway on my Super M a couple years ago. The tractor's first spring outing to pull the cultimulcher through my mother in law's huge garden.

While working up the garden I was repeatedly dive bombed by an angry robin. Only when I parked the tractor back in the shed did the robin fly in beneath the gas tank. She then settled into a nest tucked in behind the hydraulic christmas tree valve.

The ride apparently caused no harm to the two eggs in the nest - both hatched several days later. ...Bob M
