Chuck3 I can't think of to many reasons to adjust the speed on an open center system like on you 1066. A person can feather the valve and get just about any speed. I always liked the open center because it you pull the lever somthing is going to happen even if just go by the bypass, on a close center if the oil can't flow nothing happens can't tell if the pump is even pumping, so I like the open center. But some one said that you can not control the speed on you 1066 no way. Well I will have to make that a little clearer. First the tractor has to have a fast hitch or the not so great 3 point, same thing on the good old red. Any way from the 706 through the early 86's I think 1979 including the 656 and 544. There is a way to control the speed of the hydraulics, the remotes and the hitch fast or 3 point. Very simple way to do it from the seat all you need is a right hand, and no wrenchs. It works and can be used many ways. If you have a fast hitch you have to levers on to raise and lower the hitch and one for draft control. The in side lever raises and lowers the hitch and if you look at the quadrant you will see an offset at the bottom. As you move the lever down into that offset the hydraulics will start to slow and it you fo all the way down the hydraulics will stop altogether fast hitch as well as the remotes. Except for the 544 656 666 70 Hydro, I will not say about the 686 never saw one but I think they are the same these tractors may not completely stop. But the rest will stop all hydraulics if adjusted right. If you have a tractor book it will tell you that if you are plowing for instance in 3rd or lower gear you may want to move the lever down into the offset to slow the action of the hitch to help the ride. It can be used for the remotes as well. So can you adjust the speed yes will it harm anything no, it just dumps the oil to res.

It is either up or down on them as they are and open center system , now on the late 86 seires they are a PFC system and you can select on them . If things are getting slow on the 1066 then have it flow rated and see if the pump is getting tired . They do make bigger pumps but the filter system is the hold back on the bigger pump , now there is was a double filter add on from and after market co. awhile back but i have never installed one or does any of my old customers have one on any of there tractors. So i can not say that they work and are good or not and i will not say one way or other.

the only thing i can think of is maybe it has something like our 756 where there is a cast peice with a bolt(s) through it (under the levers) to act as a stop to control drop speed/keep it out of float but I doubt they'd still use them on the 66 series.

There is NO adjustment, period.

The valves are self-contained under the seat, just for reference.

Are they running too fast? Learn to feather the control.

Too slow? You might have sloppy linkages or a weak hydraulic pump.

Chuck: I bought a new one in 1975, and in 17,000 hours of operation I never found such an adjustment. I had a complete set of operators and service manuals. If I wanted to adjust speed I changed implememnt cylinder and used a different bore.

Sure newer tractors have all kinds of gadgets, a lot of them troublesom.

Not to my knolage , that is where the controls are on the late 86 and 88 sieres You have the pressure releif in the right set suport . And the three point unloading valve and your passages for the remote valves . the only adjustments are for the three point hitch thru the side but that is not your problem . As far as getting it checked a dealership will have a flowrater not tomany people like me have them at the price of them . You can buy a gauge that will take up to 5000lbs and check pressure but that will only tell you the pressure and not the gallons a min.
