JR, have you called Saufley Impl. in Stanford, (606 365-2525)? They may have one either used or 'new'.

JR: Been running one of these tractors for 45 years with no bumper. My grill is as good as new. Some of you folks must try to use a Super A as though it were a D6 Cat.

Now if you think you are going to protect the front end castings and axle, you would need a steel frame all the way to final drives at rear. By far the biggest damage ever done to these little tractors over the years, has been hooking a chain to front axle to tow them, and not being careful. Bingo guys have front broke off block casting. Use this little tractor as it should be used you don't need a bumper.

However if you must have one, do as old suggests, build it. That is what 95% of them are, local fabrications.

JR: I've been following these little tractors for close to 55 years. I have never seen a bumper in any IH literature. I personally don't think IH ever built such an item.

If dealers in certain parts of the continent were selling bumpers, I suggest they were aftermarket bumpers built by someone other than IH. IH dealers have sold a lot of aftermarket items over the years. I would think if this A is an antique show tractor, you would want it 100% IH original.

A bumper for a Farmall A show or parade tractor? To each his own, but from where I stand its sort of like putting a brush guard on a 1957 Chevy Bel-Air Convertable. That "Little A" has one of the prettiest grills ever designed, and is parade ready just like it is.

I made one for my 45 A. I mounted it to the front cultiator mount and to the left side of the bell housing. made a square frame and then used pipe in the middle. I also painted it IH white and it made it look real sharp. Andrew
