Where could I find specs on the IH 674? Looking at one to buy, any inherent problems with this model?

Dad has a 574 and 674 both very good tractors has a loader on the 574 always started easy on fuel. The only problem is that the parking brake is in the tranny and we all know that we never burn them out.

Yep, those parking breaks never get worn out ;)

I've got a 574 that has been a great tractor, but the parking break was weak when I got it and the first time my dad used it he drove off with the parking brake engaged and that was the end of it. I never have found the time to fix it.

Another common problem with this series is the differential lock getting stuck. Usually this is pretty easy to fix, but it's something you might want to check if you're looking at one of these tractors.

The 574/674 tractors are really common where I live. I'd say the majority have loaders (which unfortunately mine doesn't) and I've heard a number of people say they are among the best tractors built for loader use. I use mine for just about everything you can imagine. It gets regular use pulling a bush-hog, mowing, raking, and baling hay, scraping the gravel on my nearly 3/4 mile long driveway, etc. I couldn't ask for a more dependable machine. A friend of mine once said that these tractors might not be the best at any one task, but that they were pretty dang good at just about anything. Considering he bleeds green I figure that's pretty high praise!

I have never owned or operated one so, this is third hand info. I always liked the way they and the 574 looked and when I saw a fellow who owned the 674, I had to ask how he liked it. He said it is a good tractor to have a "scoop" on (front end loader). He also said it was weighted wrong for things like bringing a heavy wagon off a hill. I'm not sure what he meant. Maybe they are too light or the weight isn't distributed right on them. But, that is what he said.
