A bit of a rant maybe but I have been watching manifolds for these tractors on e-bay. It seems that a used manifold in excellent condition will never bring much more than about $20, but the made in Taiwan reproduction manifolds will regularly fetch about $140. Just my opinion I guess but I would much rather have an original because I truly believe the originals are a much better manifold. Am I the only who feels this way?

I have a W-6 manifold that I would like to have fixed where cracked. Anyone know of someone who does this for a reasonable price? Havent found any $20 originals lately and don't want any cheap bad fitting china junk for $100 +.

Ok, what’s wrong with this picture?

For a piece of paper with Andrew Jackson’s picture and a bunch of green ink ($20) I can buy a good used manifold that was made in the good old USA and will bolt right on like it should. :>)

If I spend seven times as much ($140) I can buy a new reproduction that was made in Taiwan by some Taiwanese midget that will probably have a metric pipe in it that I can’t find a muffler for and I will probably have the pleasure of grinding on it so that I can get the nuts that hold it to the head on and tightened. =8<(

To me that looks like a no-brainer (in more ways than one!). By the way, $20 says I buy the used one… :>)

Have a good day…

captaink, you hit the nail right on the head. Actually, I think I would be willing to pay the $140 for the used one, or at least half of that, and that Taiwanese midget can just keep his piece of junk.

Rusty

I feel the same way. I bought a 10 ft disc last fall and spent the winter freeing it up rusted real bad. Been looking at new ones and I just can't believe how cheap they look. I don't think most of the Taiwan stuff would last 5 years....
