How do you remove the crankshaft from an M? Does the tractor have to be split or can it be done in frame? Thanks

You need to pull the engine because the flywheel and clutch assembly which is bolted to the crank. On the front of the engine, the big cast timing cover needs to come off. Before the timing cover can come off, the crank pulley has to come off. There is quite a few parts that need to come off in order to get the crank out. Make sure you make note of where and what orientation each main bearing cap and rod came off.
