stabilizer bars question

I have a 454 utility and am wondering if I need stabilizer bars that run from under the axle to the end of the 3 point arm if I use the tractor for plowing. I have a mounted 2 bottom 3 point plow.

Did IH ever use stabilizer bars? If so, for what applications?

I am told that I don't need these bars when plowing with an 8n Ford.

thanks for any information you may have.

You shouldn't need stabilizer bars on any tractor with a plow. Be sure that the wheel spacing is correct for the plow you are using. There are adjustments on the plow for width of cut. Your tractor or plow book will give you the measurements. Some plows have a lever to change width of cut on the go for side hill plowing. Ed

Sorry about the double post. The first one didn't look like it went through so I hit it again!
