Do the later cubs have any more power than the early ones? I am looking at a late 50's model with a 4 ft. belly mower. I have used a neighbor's, an early 50's model and it seems a bit under-powered to me. I realize that one can't let the grass get to big with one of these. I am thinking the cubs were not changed much until the sixties. Thanks for your response.

You are correct, the changes were late 60's and the late 50's model will have the same power as the early 50's model.

Of course, any old Cub with low compression will have less power than one in good shape. A Cub in good shape will handle a 4 ft mower fine, but a 5 footer is a stretch in good thick grass.
