jack one side, block it up, jack the other, block that side. Wedges both sides in front can work but must be absolutely secure if you plan to single point jack the rear at center, not recommended by me at least. If a wedge slips or breaks up she'ds going over. Why go the wedge route if you have the axle housings or draw bar in place to block both sides at the rear? Only time I ever wedged the front was when I removed axle drive shaft/bull drive housings. Get some serious wood blocks to block your tractor. Rail ties or big treated wood works good. Don't use cheap jack stands or balsa wood blocks.....

The wedges that MD suggest is the method recommended in the owners manual. It also shows a wedge under the axel with what looks like a long u-bolt running up to the engine area so that its all bolted/snugged down so as not to go anywhere. Cant tell much about the u-bolt from the picture, but I suppose if you was standing at your tractor, you'd figure it out.

Dixieland Get 2 wedges and drive them from eather side between the engine and the front axle. This will keep the tractor uprightas you jack the back up. As other have said be very careful. Morgan

Not on that one leg jack you have. The safest way is to use a stand that supports the tractor both ways. You can also set the left housing down on a secure block after removing the left wheel as you have, and place the jack under the axle housing near the right wheel to lift it just clear of the ground and remove that wheel. Then you can also set that side down on a secure block to paint or work on the tractor as desired. Reverse the whole procedure to put the wheels back on. The main thing, be careful. These are only suggestions, don't exceed your skill or ability.

I already tried that! What I meant about shootin from the hip was I don't want to guess. I have tried every combination more than once and no matter what, even using a engine hoist, with either wheel off it wants to tip.

Dixieland. I have had the wheels off my "A" a couple of times. Used wedges on the front, then jacked the left side and put a jack stand under the drew bar. Removed tire and then did the right side. I left the wheel wights on amd just removed rims amd tires. Put jack stands as close to mounting points on drew bar. It can be done. Morgan
