I did everything myself EXCEPT for installing the head gasket and bolting down the rocker arms... Fired up the tractor for the first time, got 40 lbs oil pressure, ran smooth and beautiful. BUT have ZERO oil, I mean not even a drop coming out of the rocker arms? Perhaps the head gasket was intsalled improperly blocking that galley? any suggestions on how to trouble shoot are appreciated.

Theman may have the best way to check for blockage. It could be your head gasket blocking
the oil flow. You should be able to determine
if the brass rod is passing the head gasket or is hitting the gasket.

Were the cam bearings installed by your local machine shop? I think they would be very careful
when installing cam bearings. Hal

I bought this tractor in pieces. The previous owner tore it down for an "in frame" rebuild. So, he never had the cam out.

Pull the rocker assembly and check the oil hole that supplies the head from the center cam bearing. I recommend using a piece of unfluxed 1/8" brazing rod. Use it as a depth gage to see if the passage is clear. If the rod extends past where the head gasket would be, the next source of blockage is the cam bearing. If it wasn't properly installed, oil won't make it to the head. To verify the bearing is in the correct position, round the end of the brass rod leaving it blunt with no sharp edge. Turn the engine over slowly by hand (remove the spark plugs) and see if the rod dips in the slot on the camshaft or if you feel it rubbing against the bearing surface. Be sure to turn the engine over twice so the cam makes a full rotation. If nothing happens, the cam bearing needs to be replaced.

Oh my gosh, I will hope to heck the cam bearing does not need replacing. That sounds like a ton of work. Hope the rod hits the head gasket and that is all that is wrong :)

I would suspect the oil ports are stopped up with crud under the rocker arms. The arms should slide sideways toward the retaining springs and you can clean out the ports with a small diameter wire. I have seen this happen on more than one occasion.
