Thanks guys, it appears that the flow can vary from about 4 gpm to slightly over 10, close enough for the little project I am considering. I know that it will work.

Rusty, I read some where on this forum that is was something like 4 GPM. Don't know if that is true but sounds about right for them

Hi Rusty...I would also like to know the anwser to that. I have been trying for several days to find out the PSI for a GM power steering pump. The GM dealer , GM customer service, nor the local hydraulics expert can tell me. It seems that we have been taking hydraulics for granted...Thanks...Dixieland

Howdy, I've been working on my H bellypump for a few days, and I hve the service manual right here in front of me. According to the book,
At 3/4 engine throtle the folling pump capacity is obtained:
Pressure Pounds, PTO Speed, Oil Temp, GPM
800, 540, 91-98, 7-3/4
700, 540, 101-110, 8-1/3
600, 540, 99, 9.43,
500, 540, 100, 9.73
400 540 100 10.3

Now I have a ?
Is the dipstick susposed to be fastened to the filler cap, or does it set on top of the fill pipe?
I didn't think I had the dipstick, but it was down in the tank with the washer missing. ken

Some of the dipsticks were attached to the cap, some of them simply sit on top the pipe. I think the older ones were attached to the cap, but I don't know when the change occured. Either way will work. Personally, I find the dipsticks a nuisance, and have removed it.

The H I have the dipstick is hooked to the plug so it comes out when you remove the plug. I think you have a little problem with yours

Dix. I have been told the old GM power steering pumps will put out around 1500psi. I have used the on tractors before and worked well for say lifting a sickle mower etc.
