When you guys put sleeves in the 806 D do you get the .005 over sleeves for a better fit.

Rebuilding a 806 diesel is a tricky thing , since it is a dry sleeve engine and the sleeves must be pressed in sometimes they wrinkel a bit . THe reason for the oversize is to true the block up it is best to have the block done on a stationary boring bar and first have the block linebored then have the block bored off the true center line of the crank and install the oversize sleeves and after the sleeves are pressed in then using a ridged hone hone the new sleeves to remove any wrinkels and check the intier bore with a dial bore gauges and fit each piston to the bore , i have seen way to many 806 diesels that guys have tryed to do themselfs only to seeze the engine and put a rod out the block . One guy did not like my price to rebuild his and after blowen 4 engines before he had 30 hours on them and scrapen out 4 blocks , one engine did not make the first hour. . 361's and 407's can be a bear and they are to expencive to waiste .

The new sleeves should fit tight enough in the block since the old sleeves will have to be pressed out and the new ones pressed in. Hal

the tractor vet hit it right on. the block can distort and when you put in new sleves you dont know what you have unless you have some good measuring equipment
