I have an 1941 A. I understand that the crankshaft belt pulley is a press-on fit. Does anyone have any suggestions on the correct way to do this. Should I use heat or is it necessary? If I use heat, I suppose I should paint it after installation. What type puller would I use to remove it without tearing it apart? I have another pulley that has a crack parallel to the shaft hole along the key-way cutout. Any suggestions on how to repair this other spare pulley. It has a set screw installed as well. Yes, I have two pulleys and two different part numbers.

Thanks,

MACE

Looks like my puller is getting around. Be careful heating the pulley to hot when reinstalling, remeber it is sliding into a seal. To help pull it into ploace, screw a piece of threaded rod into the center of the crankshaft, and get a pieco of pip that will fit against the pulley oustide the crank ears so it will pull even ly, plus some washers and a nut. Use that to help pul the pulley into place.

Hi John, When I restored an A, that pulley wasn't that hard to remove or to reinstall. From what I've read on this forum the Cub's pulley is very hard to remove and can be damaged easily if the pulley is gripped by the outer edge where the metal is thin. I've added one of each to my tool collection in case I ever need it. I would need a crane to load that tool box now. You can not beat that hydraulic pressure when pulling or pressing. We haven't had very warm weather here in MD so far this spring and it's dry again. Hal
