i am getting ready to change the tranny fluid in my ih 354 soon and need some advice. it has been leaking tranny fluid for some time, so i have gotten a new gasket to help out this leak. it looks like the fluid in my tractor is the heavy 80 or 90 wt tranny oil. i have used that same weight oil to add back into it before, but now that i am going to change the gasket and all the fluid, should i put in hy-tran fluid or use the regular 80-90wt? i have about 2800 hrs on it now. also, i dont know when the last time the fluid was changed out. my dad may have had it changed while i was not living on the farm, but i dont know now since he has passed on. what are some good ways to clean out the tranny? i have read on here about using kerosene or diesel fuel in the tranny and driving around awhile, then draining. what is a good way to get rid of that fluid that drains out after that? is that a safe method for cleaning? i sure appreciate any advice you all can give. tia

diesel fuel is what I used. if you have a burn barrel, that old stuff is a good fire starter.

I would put HY_TRAN in because it aborbs the moisture and no problems in the winter.
